On April 29, 2025, a conference titled “Equal Participation in Governance and Barrier-Free Life” was held in collaboration with our Faculty, our Department, and the Governance and Politics Society.
The event took place at the Sabri Bektöre Conference Hall, with Istanbul Member of Parliament and United Nations Peace Ambassador Av. Serkan Bayram as the keynote speaker. The conference was attended by AKU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şuayıp Özdemir, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Gökhan Demirtaş, Dean of Bolvadin Faculty of Applied Sciences and our Department Chair Prof. Dr. Mustafa Fişne, Aegean Regional Coordinator of the Ankara Foundation for the Education and Sports of the Visually Impaired (Gören Kalpler Vakfı) Öznur Kırman, as well as faculty members and students.
Following the opening speech, Istanbul MP and UN Peace Ambassador Av. Serkan Bayram delivered a presentation focusing on “Equal Participation in Governance and Barrier-Free Life.” During his speech, he shared insights into the film Wheat Grain (Buğday Tanesi), his life story, and related advocacy efforts.
After the conference, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şuayıp Özdemir presented a plaque to Av. Serkan Bayram, who in turn gifted his book Wheat Grain to Prof. Dr. Özdemir. The event concluded with a Q&A session.
