Bölüm Hakkında
Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi bünyesindeki Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Bölümü, 18.08.2008’de Yükseköğretim Kurulu Başkanlığı’nın 22329 sayılı kararı ile açılmıştır. Başlangıçta Kamu Yönetimi adıyla kurulan ve eğitim veren bölümümüz, 05.04.2017 tarihli Yükseköğretim Yürütme Kurulu toplantısında alınan kararla ve ilgili mevzuat doğrultusunda Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi adını almıştır. 60 kişilik kontenjanı olan Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Bölümü’nde derslerin eğitim dili Türkçe’dir.
Bölümümüzde 2 Profesör, 2 Doçent ve 3 Doktor Öğretim Üyesi olmak üzere 7 Öğretim Üyesi görev yapmaktadır. Ayrıca, 1 Öğretim Görevlisi, 1 Araştırma Görevlisi Doktor ve 4 Araştırma Görevlisi (biri 2547 SK. 35 M. uyarınca bir başka yükseköğretim kurumunda geçici görevli) olarak toplam 13 öğretim elemanı görev yapmaktadır.

Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Bölümü’nde öğrencilerin güçlü bir lisans eğitimi almalarının yanı sıra; analiz, araştırma ve sorgulama yetenekleri kazanmış, sosyal iletişimi güçlü, takım çalışmasını bilen, fikir üretme ve savunma yetisi edinmiş bireyler olmaları amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda bölüm; öğrencilerine hızla gelişmekte ve dönüşmekte olan Türkiye toplumunda yöneticilik rolü üstlenme becerisi kazandırmak ve yaratıcı, çağdaş kamu yönetiminin detaylarını içeren bilgilerle donatılmalarını sağlamak için özgün bir ders programı uygulanmaktadır. Lisans programında ilk iki yıl boyunca öğrencilere sosyal bilimler alanında temel dersler verilmektedir. 3. ve 4. sınıflarda ise ilgili bilim dalında daha detaylı bilgi birikimine sahip olmalarını sağlayacak ve uzmanlığa hazırlayacak dersler okutulmaktadır. Bölüm öğrencilerinin bir veya iki dönem Erasmus Programı ile yurtdışında ve Farabi Programı ile yurt içinde farklı üniversitelerde eğitim alma imkanı bulunmaktadır. Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Bölümümüz ayrıca 2010 – 2011 Eğitim Öğretim Yılı Güz Dönemi’nde Yüksek Lisans eğitimi vermeye, 2016-2017 Eğitim Öğretim Yılı Güz Dönemi’nde de Doktora eğitimi vermeye başlamıştır.
Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Bölümü Mezunları “Kamu Yöneticisi” ünvanını alırlar ve Kaymakam, İdari Hakim, Bağımsız İdari Otoritelerde (SPK, EPDK, RK, vb.) ve Merkez Bankasında Uzman Yardımcısı, Uzman, Bakanlıklarda Müfettiş olarak ve kamu kesiminin diğer alanlarında olduğu kadar özel sektörde ve üçüncü sektör kuruluşlarında (vakıflar, dernekler, kooperatifler vb.) yönetici ve diğer statülerde çalışabilirler.
About Us
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Afyon Kocatepe University was founded in 2008. Our department, initially established in the name of Public Administration, was later named Political Science and Public Administration in 2017 based on the relationship between Political Science and Public Administration so that our students can continue their education by taking introductory courses in these two primary areas. The medium of instruction in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, which has a quota of 60 students, is Turkish. With the change of the name of our department to Political Science and Public Administration, according to our recently created curriculum, which will be applied to the students who will study in the program in the 2017-2018 academic year, our students are required to take 50 courses to graduate. The 50 courses given to the students are mainly offered in 4 departments: Political Science and Social Sciences, Law, Urbanization and Environmental problems, and Administrative Sciences. Moreover, our students also take courses in other core areas, such as sociology, philosophy, and economics, which are related to political science and public administration.
The 50 courses our students are required to take are composed of 29 compulsory courses and 21 elective courses. In addition, as part of an application throughout the university, all second-year students take a non-area elective course in the fall and spring semesters. These courses are selected among the courses offered by departments outside the faculty to enable the student to know different disciplines. The main objective of determining nearly half of the total course loads as elective courses in our department is to allow our students to choose from the areas they want to pursue in terms of their career goals and their academic development. Accordingly, all the instructions, seminars, and meetings that our students need in line with their academic and career goals are organized by our department for four years, and it ensures that our students head for the fields they are interested in.
In addition to the eligible undergraduate education in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, we aim to produce graduates who have gained abilities such as analyzing, researching, and questioning, as well as having solid social communication and teamwork skills with the ability to deliver ideas and defend them. Per this purpose, the department implements a unique curriculum to make its students gain the ability to undertake managerial roles in a rapidly developing and transforming society of Turkey and to provide them with information that includes the details of creative and contemporary public administration and political science. The department’s students can study for one semester or two abroad via the Erasmus Program and at other universities in our country with the Farabi Program.
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration has also started to provide an MA degree in the fall semester of 2010 – 2011 and a Ph.D. degree in the fall semester of 2016-2017. Graduates of the Political Science and Public Administration Department receive the title of “Government Executive,” and they can be appointed as District Governors and Administrative Law Judges. They can work at Independent Autonomous Authorities (CMB, EMRA, CA, etc.) and Central Bank as assistant specialists and specialists, at Ministries as inspectors, at state institutions as officials, and they can also work in the private sector and the third sector organizations (foundations, associations, cooperatives, etc.)
